Bradwell Institute was looking to stir their own storm in Brunswick as they opened their season at Glynn Academy Friday night, but the Red Terrors routed the Tigers 27-2 to get the win.
Tigers coach Jim Walsh said it wasn’t injuries that caused the loss; it was more the mental response to a change in the Red Terrors’ defense.
Walsh said the Red Terrors normally run the 4-4, but shifted the defense after studying just how well the Tiger offense did in the scrimmage against Liberty on Aug. 19.
“And I guess they changed things up on us,” Walsh said.
Walsh said the shift caused a lot of confusion on offense.
“We had more mental problems rather than physical problems. It snowballed on us,” he said.
The Tigers earned a safety in the second quarter when they pinned the Red Terrors deep and Delmar Woods got their quarterback in the end zone.
Defensively we did some good things,” Walsh said.
He said there is still plenty of football left and the team will begin to prepare for Charlton County come Monday.
