After playing Wayne County two weeks ago and McIntosh County last week, it might seem that the road couldn’t get any harder for the Blue Tide. But it will tonight when Long County (0-4, 0-1) takes on unbeaten Region 2-AA foe Vidalia in Ludowici.
The Indians (4-0, 1-0) have wins against Truetlen County, Swainsboro, Toombs County and Metter — outscoring their opponents, 139-33.
Last season, the Indians beat Long County, 47-0, on their way to a second-place finish in Region 2-AA and a trip to the state playoffs.
They are led at quarterback by Dajarius Mincey and on the ground by Juan Foster. The Indians also have two capable wideouts in Chris Sharpe and Howard Brooker.
The Blue Tide come into tonight’s game still looking for their first win.
Long County is averaging 14 points per game and giving up 35 points a game. On offense, the Blue Tide are led by quarterback Jacob Turner and offensive threats Jermaine Gibbs and Jalleel Braggs. The defense is anchored by Jeffery Hall. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
