Lady Tigers win three to clinch berth

Bradwell Institute pitcher Karson Rogers closed out the regular season and the Lady Atomsmashers on Saturday, pitching a perfect three innings in a run-rule shortened 23-0 win. She tossed a one hitter in the three-inning nightcap, a 33-0 win.

Bradwell Institute pitcher Karson Rogers allowed one hit in two games, and the Lady Tigers outscored Johnson, 52-0, in a doubleheader Saturday to clinch third in Region 3-AAAAA.
The wins — coupled with a 12-2 victory over Groves on Sept. 27 — secured Bradwell (14-10, 8-4) a berth in the state Class AAAAA playoffs. The Lady Tigers will hit the road to take on the No. 2 seed from Region 4-AAAAA on Oct. 12.
Bradwell’s 14 wins were the most in the fast-pitch program’s history, coach Sharyl Eastlake said.
On Saturday, Rogers was perfect in the opener and struck out seven in a 23-0 win in three innings. Bradwell scored eight runs in the first inning, five in the second and 10 in the third.
Barbara Rego led BI at the plate with three hits and four RBIs. Samantha Gonzalez had three hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs. Rachael Ray had three hits and two RBIs, and Courtney Felton had a home run and three RBIs.
In game two, Rogers pitched a one-hit shutout with five strikeouts in two innings as Bradwell scored 19 runs in the first and 13 in the second to take a 32-0 win. Rogers also led BI at the plate with four hits. Ashley Riles had three hits and drove in four runs, Felton had two hits and drove in four runs, Rego had three hits and four RBIs and Gonzales had three hits, including a homer, and four RBIs.
Against Groves, Rogers scattered two hits and five strikeouts over five innings in the Lady Tigers’ 12-2 win 
Sarah Wells led the way at the plate with a three-hit, four-RBI performance. Felton had two hits and four RBIs, Riles had two hits and two RBIs and Rogers had one hit and drove in two runs.
