Proving that tough men can wear pink the Walker Middle School Wildcats honored WMS sixth grade teacher Beth Vandevort by wearing pink uniforms in last Friday’s game against Lewis Frasier Middle School.

October is National Breast Cancer awareness month and the Wildcats players donned pink socks while their coaches and fans wore pink shirts creating a sea of pink across Veterans’ stadium. Vandervort, who is currently battling breast cancer, lead the football team as they burst through their banner just before the game.

The Patriots of Lewis Frasier won the game 14-0 off two touchdowns by Dionte But the wildcats had plenty of defensive highlights to brag about.

In the first half both Damian Jones and D’Andre Riddick both had big sacks to the Patriots’ quarterback. In the fourth quarter Thomas Watts put a big hit on a Patriot running back which was heard all the way in the concession stand.

In addition to breast cancer awareness and honoring Vandervort, the WMS wildcats crowned their homecoming queen Adrienne Hall.
