Warriors Walk getting more trees

Salute to fallen soldiers Thursday

Tree dedication ceremony to honor fallen 3rd ID soldiers

The 3rd Infantry Division and Fort_Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield will honor four fallen heroes with a tree-dedication ceremony at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, at Warriors Walk.
Those to be honored include:
• Cpl. Keith A. Nurnberg, 26, of McHenry, Ill., died Sept. 5 in Baghdad, Iraq,_of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit during combat_operations. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd_Brigade Combat Team, Fort Benning.__
• Cpl. Javier G. Paredes, 24, of San Antonio, died Sept. 5 in Baghdad, Iraq,_of wounds suffered from a rocket propelled grenade. He was assigned to the_2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, Fort Benning.__
• Sgt. John Mele, 25, of Bunnell, Fla., died Sept. 14 in Arab Jabour, Iraq, of_wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit_during combat operations. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 30th_Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team.
• Spc. Christian M. Neff, 19, of Lima, Ohio, died Sept. 19 in Baghdad, Iraq,_of wounds suffered from an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to_the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team.
The addition of a memorial tree for each of these fallen soldiers will bring_the total number of trees on Warriors Walk to 373.  
The trees planted on Warriors Walk serve as a living monument to the great men_and women of the U.S. Army, the National Guard, and the 3rd Infantry_Division soldiers who were immortalized by their sacrifices.
