The Long County High School football team will travel to Nahunta tonight to take on Brantley County. Both teams are looking for their first win.
The Tide (0-6) is coming off a competitive 21-3 loss to Pierce County. Though the Tide struggled on offense, only putting up a field goal, it was the defense’s best performance of the year.
Long County’s two best offensive performances of the season were in weeks one and two of the season, when the Blue Tide put up 42 of their season total 66. The team is averaging 11 points per game, while giving up 33 a game.
The Herons also are struggling. Their most competitive game of the season was in week three in an 18-14 loss to Berrien High School.
They were beaten soundly by Charlton County (41-6) and Clinch County (41-19), and are coming off a thumping at the hands of Tattnall County, where the Warriors easily won, 34-13. Brantley County is averaging  14 points per game while giving up 33.
Brantley outscored Long County, 37-12, last season. Tonight’s game is at 7:30 in Nahunta.
