After much campaigning, the Ludowici city election is set for Tuesday.

The election will decide at least two new leaders in the city. Mayor Myrtice Warren is not seeking another term, and former District 1 Councilman A.A. “Zip” Billings decided not to seek re-election prior to his recent death.

Meanwhile, three of the four incumbents have challengers this year.

Running for mayor of Ludowici are James Fuller, Janis Goode, Tara R. Manning and William “Rev” Miller.

Running for the District 1 council seat are Mary Hamilton and Jerry Stapleton. In District 2, incumbent Jim Fuller will be challenged by Marvin H. Chesser. The District 3 contest pits incumbent Frank McClelland Jr. against Codie Futch. In the District 5 race, incumbent Gwendolyn W. Davis will face Robert Cahill.

The only officials not being challenged in the election are incumbent District 4 Councilman Johnny W. Manning and incumbent Municipal Court Judge Larry M. Fowler.

On Election Day, the North Ludowici Precinct on North Macon Street in the city hall office building and the South Ludowici Precinct on South Main Street Extension adjacent to Walker Middle School will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.
