Authorities have issued a freeze warning for parts of central and eastern Georgia, where temperatures are expected to plunge into the upper 20s in some areas Friday morning.

Meteorologist in our area, however, say there could be frost, but no freeze. The low is forecast  to be 39-40 degrees, while it could dip down to nearly freezing Friday night.

National Weather Service forecasters say the north Georgia warning will be in effect from 3 a.m. until 8 a.m. Friday.

It covers DeKalb, Forsyth, Fulton and Gwinnett counties in the Atlanta metro area.

The freeze warning also includes several Georgia cities east and south of Atlanta, including Athens, Gainesville and Macon.

Further south, a frost advisory for Friday morning covers cities that include Dublin and Vidalia, where temperatures in that region are expected to be in the lower and mid-30s.
