The Liberty County Health Department recently conducted a “drive-thru flu clinic” in  James A. Brown Park at the Shuman Recreation Center to test how local health and emergency services would coordinate to provide mass vaccines in the event of a pandemic flu crisis.
Organizers successfully vaccinated 43 residents, at a charge of $25 for each shot, just shy of the goal to provide 50 vaccinations.
To ensure the event went smoothly, Hinesville-Liberty County Emergency Management Agency, Hinesville Police Department, Liberty County Family Connections, Gateway and Liberty Regional Medical Center Emergency Medical Services staffers were on-site.
Additionally, every staff member from the health department worked at least one shift at a station along the drive-thru route.
