Get in the mood for Christmas by joining the Midway Museum on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. for Mrs. Thelma’s English-style tea.
The annual event, a pre-Christmas tradition at the museum, is designed to be reminiscent of America’s Colonial period, when English customs still were prevalent in coastal Georgia, according to museum marketing director Lesley Francis.
The Midway Museum, she said, is the ideal venue for this colonial Christmas celebration because it recreates life as it would have been lived in a typical planter’s cottage in the 1750s -1870s and exhibits rare artifacts from the Colonial era.
During the holiday season, the museum will be decorated with Colonial-style Christmas decorations and many staffers will wear period costumes.
A limited number of tickets are available for $10 per person. The fee includes tea, scones with clotted cream and other treats and a tour of the museum. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 884-5837 or emailing
“We are very grateful to the Hale’s Tea Company, which is generously sponsoring our 62nd Christmas tea.  Our Christmas teas are a fun way to experience the living history of our coastal region,” Midway Museum Executive Director Diane Kroell said.
