The Long County High School girls’ basketball team still is looking for its first win of the year after losses to Pierce County and Wayne County this past weekend.
On Saturday, the Lady Tide lost 58-20 to the Lady Yellow Jackets n Ludowici. 
Vonatay Turner led all Tide scorers with seven points. Derissa Crawford chipped in with four points while Laura Clary and Jameka Boyd each scored three points. The Tide also got a bucket from Christa Prescott and a free throw from Raven Rose.
On Friday, the girls traveled to Blackshear to take on Pierce County, where they turned in one of the team’s best performances of the year with two of their players scoring in double digits.
 The Lady Bears won 53-33, but the girls from Ludowici continued to fight until the final buzzer.  In that contest, Boyd and Brittany Hall led the Lady Tide with 10 points each, while Rose added seven, Clary put up three, Amadah Garvin had two, and Mikayla Lovett added a free throw.
The Lady Tide are back in action tonight, traveling to St. Vincent’s Academy.  The Lady Monarchs bring a 6-7 overall record into the game and a Region 2-AA mark of 4-4, while the Lady Tide are 0-12 overall and 0-8 in the region. The game starts at
6:30 p.m. in Savannah.
On Saturday night, both the Long County boys and girls are back on their home court against Region 2-AA foe Appling County.
The Lady Pirates are 7-7 overall and 2-6 in the region, and beat Long County, 63-35, the first time the teams met this season. The Pirates are 8-5 overall and 3-4 in 2-AA. Earlier this season, the Tide knocked off the Pirates, 67-58. The Tide are 8-5 overall and 5-2 in the region. The girls’ game begins at 6 p.m. The boys play at 7:30 p.m.
