The Long County High School girls’ basketball team faced St. Vincent’s Academy on Friday night in Savannah, and for a while it looked like the Lady Blue Tide might be able to pull out the team’s first win of the season.
But SVA pulled away in the second half to win 43-31 after the two squads were tied 22-22 at the half.
The leading scorer for Long County was Jameka Boyd who put up nine points, while Brittany Hall and Raven Rose each added seven, Mikayla Lovette put in six, and Laura Clary added two. Blake Willoughby led SVA with 17 points.
The loss dropped the Lady Tide’s overall record to 0-13 and their Region 2-AA mark to 0-9.
On Saturday night, Long County’s boys and girls were in action in Ludowici against Appling County.
Long County is home again on Tuesday against Vidalia High School. Vidalia’s boys are 16-1 and 9-0 and ranked No. 2 in Class AA by the PrepCountry.com coaches poll.
The girls tip off at 6 p.m.
