SAVANNAH - State lawmakers from the Savannah area are urging the state to create a new state film office in the east Georgia city.

Rep. Craig Gordon, a Savannah Democrat, tells the Savannah Morning News that having a film recruitment office in Savannah would make the area more attractive to Hollywood movie executives.

Gordon authored House Resolution 1165 toward the effort. He said a new state office would not replace an existing city film office.

Last year, the Georgia Film Commission generated $700 million in film revenue. Gordon says he thinks a satellite office would help Savannah get a larger percentage of that money.
