First Saturday activities in Darien are slated for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday on the waterfront. Participants can enjoy a free day of fun, food and festivities.
A chef from The Darien River House Restaurant will prepare breakfast items at 10 a.m., and The Purple Pickle also will be serving breakfast and lunch.
The open-air farmers market will offer a variety of fruits, vegetables, breads, boiled peanuts, jams and honey. Additionally, vendor Carolyn Thomas will return with her award-winning “palmetto juice.”
Broad Street Antiques will offer deal on some antiques, and As You Wish Interiors, which is in the back room inside The Shops at 107 Broad, is having its annual yellow tag sale. Select merchandise will be marked with 50 percent off yellow tags and shoppers can take an additional 10 percent off sale prices until 6 p.m. on First Saturday.
Street vendors will display and sell coastal photography pieces, handcrafted furniture, antiques, drift wood from local island beaches, handmade picture frames of all sizes, quilts and pottery.
After a morning of shopping and enjoying the local fare, First Saturday attendees can explore Fort King George and its history.
For information, call 912-437-2340 between 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
