Blue Tide pick up 15th win

With a large homecoming crowd on hand Saturday in Ludowici, the Long County High School basketball teams split their games against Pierce County.
In the boys’ game, the Blue Tide picked up their 15th win of the season. But the Lady Tide fell once again and are still looking for their first win of the year.
The Long County boys started out sluggishly, falling behind to the Bears, 22-21, at the half. However, the Blue Tide outscored the visitors in the second half to seal the 66-48 win. 
Leading the way for the Blue Tide were Jamaal Anderson, who had 16 points, and Henry Peoples, who put up 14 points. The leading scorer for the Bears was Darius Foreman, who scored 14 points.
The Bears fell to 1-18 overall and 0-12 in the region, while the Blue Tide improved to 15-6 overall and 11-2 in the region. 
The Long County boys are still holding on to the No. 2 spot in the 2-AA standings. They have three games left before the region tournament begins.
In the girls’ game, the Lady Tide came out strong and led at the end of the first period. But by halftime, the Lady Bears had fought back and went on to win, 39-27.
Christine Braddy led the Pierce County girls with 13 points. Brittany Hall led Long County with eight points, and Raven Rose added seven points.
Pierce County improved its overall record to 8-10, while the Lady Tide are still looking for their first win of the season. 

Friday , Long County takes on Brantley County in Nahunta. The Herons are 6-13 and the Lady Herons are 13-7. The girls’ game tips off at 6 p.m. and the boys follow at 7:30 p.m.
