In other Long County news, the Walker Middle School boys’ basketball team wrapped up its season last week after losing to Waycross Middle School in the conference championship.
The WMS Wildcats fell behind by 20 points but mounted a comeback to narrow the gap to four points.  However, the undefeated Waycross team hoisted the crown after downing Walker Middle School, 51-38.
The Wildcats finished the season with a 12-5 overall record, a 6-2 conference record and victories against Appling County and Ware County in the conference tournament.
“Congratulations to coach (Reggie) Wilkes and the 2012 Walker Wildcats basketball team,” Walker Middle School Athletic Director Dennis Pattison said.
