The Long County boys’ basketball team  continued its winning ways Tuesday by defeating Tattnall County, 75-60, in Ludowici. The Lady Tide struggled against Tattnall and lost, 49-23.
The Long County boys improved their Region 2-AA record to 13-2.  The Blue Tide took a 35-26 lead at the half and never looked back. 
The Tide’s overall record now sits at 16-7, while the Battle Creek Warriors fell to 12-13 overall and 10-6 in the region.
“We’re starting to play our best basketball of the season,” Long County head coach Deshon Brock said. “I would have liked for us to have done a little better at keeping their score down and playing better defense, but it was a good team effort, and I’m glad we could get a win for our seniors.”
Long County was led by Henry Peoples with 16 points. Jarquez Payne had 13 points, Chris LaRochester had 12 points and Josh Berry had 10 points
For the Warriors, Deshon Nails had 31 points, Tory Brewton added 11 points and Deshon Davis had 10 points.
Tonight, the Tide have their final game of the regular season when they take on McIntosh County at 7:30 p.m. in Darien.
While the Blue Tide already have secured the second seed in the Region 2-AA tourney, the Buccaneers are fighting Tattnall County for the No. 3 spot.   
In Tuesday’s girls’ game, Long County was led in scoring by Brittany Hall’s seven points. 
The Lady Tide are still looking for their first win of the season.
Tonight, the Long County girls are in Darien as they take on McIntosh County at 6 p.m. The Lady Buccaneers come into the game with a 10-13 overall record and a 9-8 record in the region.
