Commings gets two-game suspension
ATHENS — Georgia cornerback Sanders Commings has received a two-game suspension following his arrest on a domestic violence charge.
One of 10 defensive starters returning for the Bulldogs next season, Commings will miss the Sept. 1 opener against Buffalo in Athens and the first Southeastern Conference game the following week, when Georgia hits the road to face league newcomer Missouri.
University police say the senior was arrested Jan. 21 after he allegedly struck his girlfriend in the face on a street corner in downtown Athens. Coach Mark Richt called any arrest “a matter of serious concern” before handing down the suspension Wednesday.
According to police, bystanders saw Commings in a confrontation with the woman at about 1 a.m., separated them, then flagged down a police officer for help.

State wrestling tourney may move
DULUTH — Scheduling conflicts might lead Georgia’s state high school wrestling tournament to leave the arena that’s hosted the event since 2006.
The Gwinnett Daily Post reports that the tournament’s typical date — the third weekend in February — already has been booked at the Arena at Gwinnett Center for 2013. The Duluth arena, one of Georgia’s largest, is hosting a circus during that time period.
Authorities say other events planned for the arena, including Gwinnett Gladiators home games, leave the wrestling tournament with few options for other weekends. Georgia High School Association Executive Director Gary Phillips said moving the tournament to dates during the week would not work because athletes would then be out of school for three full days.
