Love-It Productions will stage an encore of the play “With My Spiritual Eyes I Can See” at 6 p.m. tonight at Bethesda Church, 116 Patriots Trail in Hinesville.

The play serves as the kickoff event for the Liberty County Manna House’s fundraising campaign.

The debut of the play, written by local playwright Donald Lovette, served as the opening event for the Liberty County Martin Luther King Jr. Observance Association on Jan. 13.

The production highlights the tumultuous life of a young man who refuses to let go of his past. After much family disruption, bouts of homelessness and self-inflicted agony, the main character’s delayed acceptance of wisdom from his blind uncle leads him to the light.

“This play is real deep with a profound message for all,” said Dr. Seth Borquaye, Liberty Regional Medical Center chief of staff.

Lovette said his inspiration for the play was a sermon preached in a local church. From that, he created the script around a character in search of “the light.” Lovette found the script correlated well with the MLK Observance Association’s 2012 selected theme, “Our History, Our Choices, Our Future.”

The play stars veteran actors Sideeq Heard, Ann Baker, Larry Baker, Randy Knox, Charolette Norman, Carolyn Simmons, Tiashia Solomon, Ritchie Anderson and Kenneth Howard. Also appearing in this performance are Love-It Productions newcomers Lauryn Baker, Enrique Espada, Nicholas Lovette and LaShae Williams. The music will be provided by Jerry Sapp Jr. and the Midway Anointed Voices.

Local sponsors are Jones, Osteen and Jones; Strategic Business Solutions; Liberty Regional Medical Center; city of Flemington; Johnson Dental Group; Fraser Counseling Center; Buckley and Associates; and Bethesda Church.

Doors open at 5 p.m. For more information call Lovette at 368-7550.
