Paula Mungin recently retired after 30 years of service with the department of family and children services.
Mungin started with Chatham County DFCS as a case manager working with customers, encouraging them and providing services for them to become employed as they received benefits. She moved into supervision of TANF and food stamps and, in 2006, became the eligibility program director at Liberty County DFCS for all eligibility (OFI) programs including TANF, food stamps and Medicaid. She later was responsible for Long and Effingham counties.
Mungin’s co-workers and supervisors described her as a dedicated and faithful state servant, a leader and role model who took a positive approach to her work and problems that needed solving. She will be missed by those who knew and worked with her, DFCS staffers said.
