Hinesville Police Department blotters

POSTED: April 5, 2012 7:00 a.m.

March 30: Police were called to Coastal Academy on Shipman Avenue about an unruly juvenile. Teachers said they had been having trouble with the child using inappropriate language of a sexual nature. The child reportedly already was seeing counselors, and a teacher wanted the incident documented. The teacher declined to sign a juvenile complaint form due to the child’s age.

A Shady Oak Mobile Home Park resident told police she left her home at 6 p.m. and returned at 11:20 p.m. to find pry marks around the doorknob. The back door was open, and the resident said she was missing three rings and two necklaces. She told police that a man in his early 30s had approached her as she left her home earlier that evening. He asked her if she had or wanted cable and told her that he installed cable. Police photographed shoe prints by the back fence and checked for fingerprints.

A Heritage Road resident called police and complained about a man urinating in his yard. The resident said the man was in a black pickup across the street from his home. An officer approached the suspect, who reportedly smelled of alcohol, had to lean against the truck to keep his balance and was uncooperative. The officer spoke to a neighbor, who confirmed he knew the suspect and had been drinking with him. The suspect was arrested for public drunkenness.

Police were called to a store on West Oglethorpe Highway regarding a possible burglary. The responding officer found the window to the right of the main entrance broken. A store worker told police power to the store was off. The officer checked and found several breakers had been switched to the off position. He turned them on and found everything inside the store in order. The employee said she couldn’t access the security camera, but would have her husband access the footage and call 911 if the footage contained evidence.
