On March 30, the MACE Drug Task Force received information about a soldier who allegedly was growing marijuana at his Berkshire Terrace Apartments residence in Hinesville, according to MACE Capt. James C. Reid.

Additionally, the soldier was wanted for desertion.

MACE agents and Hinesville Police Department officers went to the address to apprehend the suspect, later identified as Sheafer Feazel. While on scene the agents found small amounts of marijuana in plain view but the overpowering smell of raw marijuana indicated the presence of more, Reid said.

Feazel and the other occupant, Megan Jerry, consented to a search of the apartment, during which several items were discovered that indicated a recent marijuana growth operation in the apartment. Agents found ultra violet grow lights, ventilation fans, books and manuals on marijuana cultivation, various fertilizers and chemicals, three plastic containers filled with recently harvested marijuana buds and a trash bag filled with green marijuana leaves, according to Reid.

Feazel was charged with manufacturing marijuana, a felony, and Jerry was charged with one count of misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Feazel is being held at the Liberty County jail with no bond and Jerry was released to appear in court, Reid said.
