Hinesville Police Department blotter

POSTED: April 19, 2012 7:00 a.m.

April 2: A Berkshire Terrace Drive man was arrested on a charge of manufacturing marijuana.

Officers and MACE agents went to the man’s home with a warrant for his arrest for desertion of the Army, and the Department of Defense officer advised HPD that the deserter was suspected of growing marijuana. Inside the home, officers smelled fresh marijuana and saw several scales used to weigh and package the drug.

The suspect admitted to having marijuana in the home and opened his closet, where officers saw containers filled with marijuana, bongs and materials and instructions for growing the plant. The suspect denied that he was growing marijuana and said that he was buying the supplies and studying how to grow it for when he moves to another state, where he plans to sell it to medical marijuana facilities. Officers found further evidence of a grow operation, and they also found the suspect’s roommate’s girlfriend in possession. She was charged with possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce.

The suspect was charged with manufacturing marijuana and was taken to the Liberty County Jail, where a hold was placed due to the desertion warrant.
