Leadership Southeast Georgia held its monthly session in Liberty County this weekend. The six-month program features a class of 24 community leaders from the 10 Coastal Georgia counties.

The class is hosted one weekend each month by one of the 10 coastal counties to discuss and explore issues that affect South Georgia, such as education, economics and health care.

“Each month, the class meets so that everyone gets a sense of what each county has to offer. It also provides great networking opportunities across the region,” said Anna Chafin, director of marketing and research for the Liberty County Development Authority. Chafin also serves on the LSEGA executive board.

The Hinesville session focused on topics concerning education issues in Southeast Georgia.

The Heritage Bank Assistant Vice President Sherri Struble, the session coordinator, said, “We will be very busy this weekend with site tours of Savannah Tech, Fort Stewart and a meeting with the Liberty Board of Education. It’s going to be a great opportunity to show that Liberty County is a leader in providing excellent educational opportunities.”

LSEGA’s host agency is the Coastal Regional Commission, which covers the same 10-county region. Since 2000, LSEGA has produced 10 graduating classes and approximately 175 graduates. This year’s class members from the Liberty County area include Vicki Davis of the Hinesville Downtown Development Authority, Natalyn Morris of Coastal Electric Cooperative and Terry Jones of Tri Scapes.
