Weather makes fishing tricky

Hello, friends and fellow anglers. I know we have had some weather issues lately with the wind and rain.
I am all about getting out there and fishing as long as there is no lightning. Fish still have to eat, rain or shine — just be careful and watch out for weather.  That is easy to do when you are on the dock tour, but it’s a different story when you’re on a boat.  So keep an eye on the sky.
Capt. Eric Moody at Jekyll Island reported the trout fishing on the beach has been slow, but fishers are catching whiting and shark.  If you are down that way, give Capt. Eric a call at Coastal Expeditions.
With last week’s tropical storm, there’s not much in the way of fishing reports. Shrimp season opened this past week, so take advantage of this little recipe you may enjoy:

Pepper shrimp and melon kabobs
2 tablespoons of honey
2 tablespoons of orange juice
2 tablespoons of Toni Shack’s pepper seasoning
1 pound large shrimp (26 to 30 count) peeled and deveined
26 cubes of honey dew melon and sweet apples (1-inch cubes)
Mix honey, orange juice and seasoning in a large bowl. Add shrimp; toss to coat them all real good.  Thread shrimp and melon and apples onto skewers.
By now, the grill should be ready.  Grill five to eight minutes, turning the shrimp occasionally. Serve that over some basmati rice and with something nice and chilled —  preferably something with a cork. Just a suggestion.
Now friends, that will make for a nice evening.
The forecast for the weekend looks good, so get out there and go fishing.
Remember what Ol’ Tight Line always said: If you do go, remember to always keep a tight line.
I say get out there and wet a hook — it’s good for the soul.
Until next time, smooth sailing, friends.
