John, a junior offensive lineman at GSU, was among the first scholarship signees for the Panthers’ inaugural season in 2010. The 6-foot-8-inch, 290-pound John made an immediate impact, earning playing time off the bench in his freshman year against Morehead State, Savannah State, Lamar and Alabama.
According to GSU’s athletics website, John started at three positions during the first five games of the season. He entered the season as the backup left tackle but started the season opener at left tackle in place of injured Clyde Yandell. Two games later, after Georgia State’s top two centers were injured, he started at center against Houston. Against Murray State, John started at left guard while Joseph Gilbert served a one-game suspension. That season, he started in four games and played in 10.
The website reported that John will likely start at left tackle in 2012.
At BI, John was a two-time first-team All-Region 3-AAAAA selection. He anchored the offensive line and paved the way for 2,000 yards rushing. He had 32 pancake blocks as a senior and 90 for his career. John also played baseball and basketball.
He is the son of Jean Kesner and Ulrick John Sr.
