June 7: Suspicious acts — A Hinesville firefighter said he was approached by a man he didn’t know who had a black Tahoe with a trailer parked outside of a newly constructed home in the 1000 block of Miles Crossing inside Griffin Park. The man told the firefighter he was a new resident and was removing the appliances from his home, but the firefighter called a third party and found out that the man should not have been at the home. The firefighter couldn’t stop the vehicle but provided the vehicle’s plate numbers. The responding officer could not find the vehicle, but a search of the plate’s information indicated they were assigned to another vehicle. The officer secured the residence and said everything else appeared to be normal.

Burglary (forced entry) — A homeowner in the 400 block of Wooddale Road reported $5,000 in jewelry and a $500 telescope taken from the vacant, furnished home. Officers observed broken glass, blood and fingerprints on a window and several pieces of jewelry near a ditch about 50 feet from the home.

Burglary (forced entry) — A business owner at 316 W. Memorial Drive reported that he came to work and found the right-front window open with the blinds drawn. Inside, the complainant found an interior door was loosened from its hinges and reported two DVD players had been taken from the room. The DVD players each were valued at $250.

Dog bite — A Liberty Regional Medical Center nurse reported that a minor patient was bitten by his aunt’s pit bull. The child reportedly had injuries to his ear, cheek and eye. The nurse said she assumed the child’s aunt drove him to the hospital, and the child and his aunt were taken to Memorial Hospital in Savannah. The officer was advised to do a follow-up with the woman when she returns from the hospital.
