June 9: Vicious animal — A Kelly Drive resident reported her son was attacked by a dog while playing at a friend’s house in the 1000 block of Keith Drive. The child had a dime-sized puncture mark on his right leg and three 2-inch long cuts on his wrist. The mother declined medical treatment for the child but said she was not sure about the animal’s shot records.
The officer went to the home of the dog and spoke with its owner, who said the shots were current but could not provide documentation. The officer asked to see the dog, and when the dog was let outside, it reportedly lunged at and bit the officer but did not break through his clothing. The officer called for animal control to come get the dog, but animal control allegedly refused because it was only a bite. Another officer also requested that animal control come to the scene, and the same animal control officer refused. The dog’s owner was given a vicious-dog citation.
Burglary (unlawful entry) — A Liberty Regional Medical Center employee reported that he was checking on a hospital-owned house in the 500 block of E.G. Miles Parkway when he discovered that the stove, water heater and condenser unit were missing. The man said he last checked on the property about one month ago, and that he suspects the thieves may have entered the house through a hole in the floor. The items are worth a combined $2,100.
