Former Liberty County High School basketball star and current Tennessee Volunteer Jordan McRae scored 64 points Thursday in Knoxville, Tenn., to break the Pilot Rocky Top League’s single-game scoring record.
McRae’s big night led Choice Spine to a 129-94 win against Campus Lights, according to McRae made 27-of-36 shots, including 8-of-13 3-pointers. The old record in the Rocky Top League’s six-year history was 61 from Carson-Newman’s Scott Williams in 2007.
McRae’s team advanced to Monday’s PRTL title game in Knoxville against R. Larry Smith Insurance. According to the website, McRae leads the league with 33.8 points per game as of Friday.
The league is a summer basketball program for top players from East Tennessee. McRae, a rising junior forward who started 15 games for the Vols last season, was selected third overall in the league’s draft.
