Long County High School had its Club International participate in the International Festival recently at Mill Creek Park in Statesboro.
Some of the activities students took part in were a parade of countries, a global village, cultural entertainment, an international bazaar and cuisine from throughout the world.
Students, teachers and parents from LCHS attended the event with Spanish teacher Ricardo Toledo, who organized the outing.
The country that was represented by Long County was Mexico. The students created artifacts, visual information boards, a music CD and decorated a tent in the theme of the country.
According to Toledo, the reason Mexico was chosen was, “As a Spanish teacher, cultural knowledge is part of the Georgia Performance Standards. This was an opportunity for the students to learn about a Spanish-language culture by creating a project for a community event.”
Students who attended the event were Brett Camp, Austin Overby, DeAndre McCall, Ashley McMorris, Ariana Hernandez, Dawn Davis, Ricky Rivera, Nick Ribal, Claudia Jimenez and Simone Meekens.
The sponsor for the event was El Cazador Restaurant in Hinesville.
