PHILADELPHIA — Georgia Southern defensive tackle Brent Russell has been selected as a preseason Football Championship Subdivision All-American by the Sports Network.
Comer native Russell, a first-team selection by the website after the 2011 season, was recently chosen for the preseason first team after posting a team-best 16.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks last season.
Russell finished with 67 tackles, two pass breakups and a blocked kick.
The Eagles get the 2012 season under way Aug. 1 against Jacksonville in the first of six home games this year at Paulson Stadium in Statesboro.
