MOULTRIE — Authorities say 32 people are facing charges in connection with what they describe as a cockfighting ring in south Georgia.
WALB-TV reports that Colquitt and Lowndes County sheriff’s departments, animal control officers and human society representatives showed up with a search warrant at a property on Georgia Highway 256 in Colquitt County on Saturday.
Colquitt County sheriff’s chief investigator Shannon Hart says the 32 suspects are charged with being a party to cruelty to animals.
Hart said the arrests are the result of an investigation that’s been ongoing for about a month.
Names of the suspects were not immediately released.
