Chapman makes SEC honor roll

Former Bradwell Institute track standout Quintunya Chapman was one of 48 University of Georgia student athletes named to the 2011-12 Southeastern Conference first-year academic honor roll.
The announcement was released by the SEC office this week.
Georgiadogs.com reported that in order to qualify for the honor roll, each student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher; be on scholarship or a letter winner; have completed 24 semester hours of nonremedial credit; and have been a member of the varsity team for the sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment.
Chapman finished her first year of the outdoor circuit by taking 21st in the 400-meter dash prelims at the SEC Championships. She was part of the 10th-place 4-x-400 relay team after clocking a season-best 3 minutes, 45.27 seconds at the meet.
In the indoor circuit, she timed in at 58.57 for 26th place in the 400-meter dash at the Auburn Invitational in her first collegiate meet.
She finished seventh in the 200 at the Mark Colligan Memorial while also taking eighth in the 400.
She joined three teammates to clock a season-best 3:50.19 for third place at the VT meet.
Chapman had a personal-best time of 55.85 to take 25th in the 400 prelims at the SEC Championships and combined with teammates to finish with the third-best distance medley relay time (11:35.42) in UGA history to take sixth in the SEC.
