Two Long County girls helped lead the RAGE Softball team to victory last weekend in the CamSports World Series in McDonough.
Right-fielder Bailey Harrison and pitcher/infielder Haley Dennison helped RAGE defeat the Birmingham-Alabama SWAT, 3-2, in the final game for the championship.
RAGE won both its games July 21, defeating the Georgia Scream Black, 13-3, and the Breakers, 11-0.  On July 22, RAGE won a tough, extra-innings game against the Georgia Hornets, 8-7. In its second game of the day, RAGE lost to the Brownsmill Lady Jackets, 4-2, to fall into the loser’s bracket.  In its third game of the day, RAGE won a rematch with the Hornets, 8-0.
The RAGE’s fourth game also was a successful rematch as it beat the Lady Jackets, 5-3.
In the final round, RAGE faced an undefeated Alabama SWAT team and won, 4-2. With SWAT and RAGE each having one loss, the teams met for a winner-take-all game for the crown. The SWAT team took a 2-0 lead and held it until the final inning.  RAGE rallied with three runs in the bottom of the final inning to take home the championship.
Other RAGE players were Lyndsey Boone, Hannah Fitzgerald, Darien Christianson, Hannah Taylor, Maddie Gorsuch, Logann Echols, Andrea Sarhatt, Ashley Burkhalter, Jade Rojas, Trinity Jennings and Bobbie Melhorn. The team was coached by Gary Taylor, Zac Fitzgerald and Mike Sarhatt
“We’re so proud of both Bailey and Haley and the whole team. We’re also thankful to Linda and Clifton DeLoach, Robert and Harriet Smith, Jeff and Nicole Harrison, Ludowici Meats, the Ludowici Bank and N-2-N Home Improvements for their help in sponsoring the team,” team mom Tessa Harrison said.
