School meals offer options

Administrators say aim is healthy eating

As Liberty County students return to school this fall, they’ll find healthy new choices in their cafeterias.
Liberty County schools will serve meals that meet new federal nutrition standards. The standards ensure that meals are healthy, well-balanced and provide students all the nutrition they need to succeed at school, according to Liberty County School System Nutrition Director Dr. Chris Reddick.  
“We’re always working to offer Liberty County students healthier and tastier choices,” Reddick said. “In addition to meeting new nutrition standards, we’re also continuing our Fresh Fruits and Vegetable Program in several elementary schools, nutrition education via the classroom and web, and more. Please check out our school menus at the web page.”
