Hinesville Police Department blotter

Feb. 22: A Hinesville business owner reported the theft of a portable storage container, valued at $2,000. The owner said the customer stopped paying on the rented storage container and told police a witness saw the container emptied and towed from the customer’s property.

Feb. 24

A known drug offender was arrested on Saunders Avenue near property from which he was banned and cited for possession of cocaine, criminal trespass and obstruction. The man fled from officers before being apprehended, and a search of his person found a cigarette box with crack cocaine inside.

Feb. 25

A man was cited for driving without a license and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia after police conducted a traffic stop on E.G. Miles Parkway. The man’s vehicle was named in an earlier report of a domestic disturbance in a nearby residential area, and police spotted the vehicle as it was leaving the residential area.

Feb. 26

A juvenile suffered burns from hot water at a residence on Kelly Drive and was flown to a burn center in Augusta. The juvenile’s aunt said she was heating water in the microwave and told the juvenile not to remove it from the microwave, but he did and reportedly spilled the water on himself in the process.

Feb. 27

A resident of Hollywood Drive reported a burglary in which two laptops, a jar of change, a sound dock, pistol magazine, television and game system were stolen. The items were valued at $3,619.
