The Long County Recreation Department held its annual Back-to-School Bash on Saturday at the recreation complex in Ludowici.

This year’s events included a home-run derby, basketball, golf, football, soccer, archery, a fast-pitch contest, a BB-gun shooting range and a punt-pass-and-kick competition.

There were boys and girls divisions divided by ages ranging from younger than 8 through teenage. Each competitor earned points for the activity and also gathered additional points for how well they did in that competition.

Here is the list of winners per age group:

• 8-younger: Kimberly Herdman and Jakeel Anderson

• 8-10: Chante Thomas and Garrett Bleyman

• 10-12: Brittany DeLoach and Austin Herdman

• 14-15: Malik Fedon and Tyler Shackerford

Each winner received a medal.

“We had a good turnout today, and everyone had a great time,” LCRD Director Michelle Rogers said.

In addition to the competition, the recreation department had several water activities and provided lunch and free shaved ice.
