A large crowd gathered to watch the cross town rivalry between Liberty and Bradwell unfold at the Tigers newly construcuted Olvey Field. Within seconds the visitor's section was roaring as DJ Bratcher returned the opening kick-off for roughly 80 yards and a touchdown.

Bradwell answered opening up the passing game and scoring on a pass and short scamper into the end zone.

The game was tied at seven until the fourth quarter when the Panthers started gaining significant yardage off runs by Trentice Williams and Andre Haggray. Quarterback JJ Grant found a receiver wide open on a four-yard pass for another touchdown, but missed the extra point. Both teams exchanged fumbles and the Tigers' dropped a pass that would have placed them in scoring position, but the Panther's held to win 13-7.

Over at Long Bell Stadium the First Presbyterian Christian Academy Highlanders made history launching their football program hosting Bethesda. The Blazers won 40-7 but the Highlanders showed a no quit attitude fighting to the very end.

Long County beat Lanier County 30-6 in their home opener at Veterans Stadium.

In other local scores Bryan County News correspondent Roberto Ferendo reported that the Richmond Hill Wildcats defeated the Johnson High Atom Smashers 49-0 on the legs of Senior QB Dominique Allen and Senior RB David Katzman each rushing for 2 TDs. Katzman rushed for 137 yds on 15 carries. Defense led by Senior LB Zach Stegner, Senior DT Jonathon Thomas, and Junior DB Darius Hall each with 5 solo tackles. Tommy Washington, Quanzell Blow, and Brandon Lahmann each chipped in with an INT. Blow also provided scoring with a 61 yd kick off return for TD.
