Hello, friends and neighbors. Looks like we again were blessed by missing the storm.  God bless all the folks on the Gulf Coast; let us pray that they don’t sustain too much damage.
Back to fishing. About a week ago, I received a report from a fellow named Rafael “Julio” Rodriguez. Fishing with his son and a few friends, the group landed six nice spottail bass. Mr. Rodriguez said his son hooked on two different fish that broke his line. You know, sometimes even the one that got away still is a thrill to have on the line, even if it is only for a little while. There is nothing like seeing that cork go clean out of sight and all the slack in your line go tight; that’s what I call a rush.
I had one more report from some fellows who told me they caught plenty of shrimp with the cast net. All this rain really has brought them into the river. They also reported catching several trout that were all under sized, so they had to release them.
Now here is a little trout recipe you might enjoy:
Ingredients
4 filets of trout
4 tablespoons of melted butter
2 tablespoons of chopped red onion and red bell pepper
2 table of chopped parsley and thyme
1 teaspoon tarragon
1/2 teaspoon of basil
Parmesan cheese
Lemon wedges
Directions
Now preheat broiler and sprinkle filets with sea salt and cracked black pepper. Blend together the spices above into a butter mixture. Spread the mixture over the filets and broil 8-10 minutes. Sprinkle the cheese as soon as they are finished and serve with lemon wedges. Add a nice side of fried new potatoes along with a nice bottle of white wine or a good, chilled wheat beer.  Either way, you can’t go wrong.
Now, if you need bait, Midway Feed and Supply has a variety of salt-water and fresh-water bait, Sunbury Crab Company has live and frozen bait, and Half Moon has live shrimp.
Remember what Ol’ Tight Line always said: Get out there and go fishing, and if you do, remember to keep a tight line. I say hit the docks, keep a sharp line and watch that cork go down.
Until next time, smooth sailing, and God bless all our troops.
