The Long County Blue Tide, Bradwell Institute Tigers and Liberty County Panthers all had to travel for Friday night lights this week. All three teams ended the night with a loss.

Tigers at Blue Jackets
Savannah High beat the Bradwell Tigers, 16-7, on Friday at Memorial Stadium in Savannah in a game that was delayed for about one hour by lightning.
It was the third year in a row the Blue Jackets stung the Tigers.
Savannah High scored in the second quarter but missed the extra point.
Bradwell answered with a 2-yard touchdown run by DeAndre Day and a Robert Miller extra point to gain the lead, 7-6, before lightning and rain caused everyone to clear the field and the stadium.
In the third quarter, the Tigers were deep in their own territory when the Blue Jackets pushed them back and earned a safety to go up, 8-6.
In the fourth quarter, the Blue Jackets sealed the win scoring a touchdown and a 2-point conversion with four minutes left.
The Tigers fell to 0-2, while the Blue Jackets are 1-1.
The Tigers are on the road again next week  when they travel to Charlton County.

Blue Tide at Benedictine
The Cadets were too much for the Blue Tide on Friday as the Savannah team won, 39-0, to improve its record to 2-0.
The game was competitive throughout the first quarter, with the Tide trailing, 6-0, at the end of the first period.  But in the second quarter, the Cadets’ passing game took off as Benedictine put up 18 more points to go up, 24-0, at the half.  Long County team continued to play hard in the second half, but turnovers and mistakes led to the first loss of the year for the Blue Tide (1-1).  A full recap of the game will be in  Wednesday’s Coastal Courier.
Long County hosts Vidalia this week.
Panthers at Pirates
Appling County quarterback Vernon Dasher led his offense to a 35-16 win over visiting Liberty County Panthers on Friday in Baxley.
The Panthers are 1-1, while the Pirates are 1-0-1 after last week’s non-conference game against Wayne County ended in a tie.
The Panthers host Johnson High this week.
