PEACHTREE CITY — The Georgia Association of School Nurses recently announced the winners of the school nurse of the year awards.

GASN has given its 2012 School Nurse of the Year Award to registered nurse Felicia Thomas, lead nurse for White County School System and school nurse for Jack P. Nix Primary School.

The awards were presented at GASN’s 20th annual statewide education conference this summer at the Dolce Atlanta-Peachtree City Hotel.

The awards recognize nurses who display outstanding service and commitment to their school and community.

The judges evaluate nominees based on quality of care, performance appraisal, ethics, education, collegiality, collaboration, research, resource utilization, communication, program management and health education.
