Snelson-Golden Middle School put a damper on Walker Middle School’s annual homecoming Sept. 21 by rallying to beat the Wildcats, 32-24, in Ludowici.
The Eagles jumped out to a 12-0 lead, but the Wildcats came back to narrow the deficit to five points with a touchdown and a successful point after conversion.  Snelson-Golden scored another touchdown in the second quarter, but failed on the extra-point attempt and took an 18-7 into halftime.
The third quarter was all Walker as the home team notched two touchdowns and an extra point to claim a 20-18 lead.  In the fourth quarter, the two teams fought like they were playing for a state title. The Eagles scored early in the quarter to take the lead back at 24-20.
With 1:54 left and the Wildcats near midfield, Walker quarterback Dylan Stewart found receiver Elijah Wright on the left sideline. Wright caught the ball and broke tackles to get into the end zone.  After a failed point-after attempt, the home team led, 26-24.
However, Snelson-Golden still found time for a 15-yard touchdown run for the winning score.
Lilly Belue was named the eight-grade homecoming queen, while Bailey Harrison was selected as the sixth-grade princess, Brianna Lord was the seventh-grade Princess, and Hannah McGowan was the eighth-grade first-runner up/princess.  Other members of the royal court included Rylie Poppell, Carla Rafael, Cassidy Vanhaitsman, Sophia Cooper, Kylee Rogers, Ravae Rose and Brenee Crawford.
