Two Bradwell Institute Future Farmers of America members will compete Dec. 1 in the state Floral Design Career Development event at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton.

Junior-division competitor Bobbie McDonald and senior-division contender Tania Camacho-Perez earned trips to the state finals after competing in the area level FFA Floral Design Career Development Event on Oct. 27 at Ware County High School in Waycross.

Camacho-Perez, who placed second in the area, created a modern line flower arrangement and also completed a floral design and plant identification exam.

“At first, I was scared about this competition and didn’t really expect myself to get such a high score,” Camacho-Perez said. “I think it really helped me when I went home and studied really hard and also the time I spent with Ms. (Elizabeth) Davis helped, too.”

McDonald, who placed first in the area for junior division, created a bud vase and boutonniere.

“I am really excited and amazed to be going to state and being a finalist,” McDonald said.

Both girls are students in Davis’ agricultural education classes.
