I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: There is plenty to do in Liberty County.

On Friday evening, there’s the annual Scarecrow Stroll and Beggars Night from 4-6 p.m. in downtown Hinesville. This event not only has all the candy your munchkins can handle, but it also features a few things the grownups will enjoy.

The Hinesville Area Arts Council will be showing “The Goonies” beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Main Street Park. Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome. Scarecrow Stroll also will serve as a kick-off event for the Relay for Life. Be sure to stop by and get updated information for 2013.

Saturday will be packed with a variety of events, including chances to volunteer, an arts festival, a fall festival and a “fly-in.”

The Fly-In will serve as an open house for the Grass Strip Foundation from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at 580 Old Gress Island Road in Midway. This event features vintage airplanes and cars, plus local craftsmen will be displaying their wares.

St. Stephen Catholic Church will host a festival at 399 Woodland Drive in Hinesville, beginning at 7 a.m. with a white elephant sale. There will be raffles, gift baskets and a bake sale all day. Beginning at noon, kids and adults can have fun with games before enjoying an outdoor movie at 7 p.m.

Keep Liberty Beautiful is hosting the seventh annual Rivers Alive throughout Liberty County at 8:30 a.m. This statewide effort is an opportunity to clean up local waterways. Contact KLB at 880-4888 to register.

The United Way of Liberty County is hosting a Make a Difference Day beginning at 9 a.m. Volunteers will meet at the United Way office to clean up the surrounding property.

Love-It Productions will present “The Good In Me,” an original stage production featuring local youth. The free show premieres at 6 p.m. at the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church of God in Christ. Following the play, there will be food and games for all.

Rather than packing up your car, try staying local and see what there is to enjoy.
