Hello, folks. I have to say that the weather is just right for fishing and going out on the river. If you have a boat, hook it up and head for the nearest location to put that baby in the water.
If you don’t own a vessel, then go to Sunbury, which is on the way to Colonels Island. Go down Highway 84, cross Interstate 95 and keep going until you see the road on the left. Follow that all the way to the end and the pier will be there. The Jekyll Island Pier is another great place. So get some bait, hit the fishing pier and be sure to take along a well-stocked cooler. That’s the best advice I can give; I hope you try it.
Now let’s get down to some fishing reports. My buddy, Rob Wade, and his party last weekend on St. Simons landed 14 trout, six spottail bass and three nice-sized flounder. Rob said everyone caught their share and was happy. How could you not be happy? Any time out on the river is time well-spent.
The Crowder family on Planting Hammock on Colonels Island has been having some good luck, or so I am told. The family is catching whiting and trout and some spottail bass. I may have to pay them a visit and carry some oil and corn meal to see if we can have a little cook-out. They only live two doors down.
Cricket at Two Way reports all the guides and their parties are catching plenty of trout. Also, the locals are doing well with the whiting, flounder and trout.
Well, friends and fellow anglers, need I say more? The fish are biting, and the weather is nice, at least for this weekend. We have got to keep an eye on this hurricane. Hopefully, we will just get a little wind and rain.
If you need bait:
•Yellow Bluff has live shrimp and minnows.
• Half Moon has live shrimp.
• The Sunbury Crab Company has live shrimp and minnows and frozen bait.
• Big Rudy at the Sunbury Country has a variety of frozen bait.
• The Midway Feed and Supply has fresh water and salt water bait.
Speaking of fresh water at the small pond, a Planting Hammock resident named Travis landed about a 4-pounder out of there, so good for him.
That about wraps things up for this week. Remember what Old Tight Line always said: “Get out there and go fishing; and if you do, remember to always keep a tight line.” I say get out there and wet a hook; it’s good for the soul. The phrase “keep a tight line” also can be meant for the way we live our lives. Something to think about.
Until next time, cool sailing, friends.

Your buddy,
Tight Line Jr.
