HPD blotter

POSTED: October 30, 2012 7:00 a.m.

Oct. 8: Criminal damage to property — A Hinesville man called police and complained that his wife had damaged his car with a broomstick, kicked a hole in a wall in their home and damaged the bedroom door. He said his wife also had broken the $600 necklace he’d been wearing. The man said the altercation began when he came home from the gym and his wife accused him of “placing a smell in her room and her medication.” The responding officer observed the damage to the car, home and necklace and questioned the man’s wife. She admitted to damaging the car but said she did not put a hole in the wall. The woman said her husband had hit her on the arm and neck and pushed her to the ground, but the officer didn’t observe any evidence supporting her claims. The man told the officer his wife is mentally ill and said he didn’t know whether she had been taking her prescription medication. The woman was voluntarily taken to Winn Army Community Hospital for a mental evaluation.
