Lewis Frasier names top spellers

The Lewis Frasier Middle School spelling bee took place recently in the Patriot cafeteria. Emerging winners were Ashanti Lee, sixth grader; Aubrey Garrido, seventh grader and Tyandre Neeley, eighth grader.  
The first round of the spelling bee took place on the middle school teams. The four top spellers from each class on the team who advanced on to the second round were as follows: Sixth grade (Team 61 — Darnell Dorcelly, Rhaquan Stuppard, Radale Tucker and Edward McDuffie); (Team 62 — Ashanti Lee, Gregory Jefferson, Valencia Smith and Tre Dandy); (Team 63 — Danielle Jones, Mary Wilson, Tristen Smith and Victoria Anthony); Seventh grade (Team 71 — AuShaunt Singleton, Michael Brouillard, Trevor Gullett and Jordan Mackley-Portley); (Team 72 — Christina Stephens, Sherod Johnson, Eyahanna Paret and Kayan Ellis); (73 — Ashley Pitts, Aubrey Garrido, Joshua Wells and Ryan Murphy); Eighth grade (Team 81 — Joani Quinn, William Frankford, Kevin Robles and Luke Willoughby); (Team 82 — Tyler Fata, Sidra Satterfield, Tyler Rentz and Anfernee Brooks); and (Team 83 — Michael Broxterman, Adam Corwin, Justin Alexander and Tyandre’ Neeley).
The second round of the spelling bee consisted of the contestants spelling orally in front of a live audience.
The Lewis Frasier Middle School’s representatives and alternates for the county spelling bee are:

6th grade
Ashanti Lee (representative)
Tristen Smith (alternate)

7th grade           
Aubrey Garrido (representative)
Ryan Murphy (alternate)

8th grade
Tyandre’ Neeley (representative)
Anfernee Brooks (alternate)

The county spelling bee is set for 9-11 a.m. Jan. 24 in the Lewis Frasier Middle School cafeteria.
