Continuing his push to make state government “faster, friendlier and easier,” Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue launched a new version of the Governor’s Office website this week, complete with improved navigation tools and media-rich content.
The new site features an easy-to-use video player, located on the homepage and maintained by Georgia Public Broadcasting, which includes clips of the governor’s most recent speeches, press conferences and special events.
An updated comprehensive photo gallery now allows visitors to the website to view, download and print photos of the governor’s appearances, reducing staff time and resources spent in mailing hard copies of photos, Perdue said.
The site also utilizes RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed technology to automatically send press releases, videos and photos as they are released to visitors who sign up to receive the notices.
According to Perdue, the revamped website is meant to be a one-stop shop for citizens wanting to keep up-to-date on his office’s affairs.
“Today, the Internet is an integral part of doing business for government and the private sector,” the governor said. “This new Web site will put Georgians just one click away from information on a host of policy issues, constituent resources and late breaking news.”
