Hinesville Mayor Jim Thomas on Thursday urged the business community to take action on the looming sequester.
“This is not about politics, this is economical,” Thomas said, adding that Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., predicted the mandatory budget cuts would take 7,000 jobs from Fort Stewart.
Thomas, who also serves as chairman of the Southeast Georgia Friends of Fort Stewart and Hunter, said such cuts would cripple the local economy.
He spoke at the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce Progress Through People luncheon, which was sponsored by Diversity Health Center.
