YMCA basketball registration: Registration for YMCA youth basketball for children age 3 and older is under way through Dec. 20. Volunteer coaches are needed. For more information, call 368-9622.

Adult flag football
Team entries are being accepted for adult flag football, which starts in January. The program is for adults age 16 and older. The entry fee is $200. The deadline for entering a team is Nov. 30. Call 876-5359.

Coaches needed
Scott’s All-Stars seek coaches/mentors for the 2013 season, which starts in January. Coaches must be dedicated, positive role models and available every weekend from February to July. For more information, call Marcus Scott at 655-4371.

Basketball camp
Registration for a basketball fundamentals camp for children ages 7-17 is under way at the Liberty County Recreation Department. The camp will be from 9 a.m.-noon Dec. 1 at the Charles Shuman Recreation Center. The cost is $10 per camper. Call 876-5359 for more information.

Body sculpting
Registration is under way for women’s body sculpting at the Liberty County Recreation Department. Classes are from 5-6 p.m. each Monday and Wednesday through Dec. 12 at the Liberty County High School weight room. The instructor is Liberty County High School track coach Keith McGee, a USAW-certified coach. The cost is $60. For information, call 876-5359.

Area team roundup
A few teams have already started basketball season and played games this past week. Here are a few scores:
• The Lady Tigers of Bradwell Institute lost to Fleming Island, 55-39, Nov. 17 in Orange Park, Fla.
• The Liberty County boys’ team was in Garden City this past weekend for the Southside Classic. Liberty opened the tournament Nov. 16 against Groves.
The Rebels managed to edge out the Panthers, 55-54. Liberty battled Windsor Forest on Nov. 17, but the score for that game has not been posted.
• Long County’s Lady Blue Tide took on Toombs County on Nov. 17 in the Tattnall Tip-Off Tournament in Reidsville. The Lady Tide lost, 35-31.

Eagles a No. 5 seed
The Georgia Southern Eagles earned the No. 5 overall seed in the 20-team Football Championship Subdivision playoffs, earning a bye during the play-in round Saturday.   The bracket was released Sunday by the NCAA.
The Eagles (8-3, 6-2 Southern Conference) will open the playoffs at 2 p.m. Dec. 1 at Paulson Stadium against Central Arkansas (9-2, 6-1 Southland Conference).
Wofford plays host to New Hampshire on Dec. 1, and Appalachian State will host Illinois State on the same day.
